The Provo-Eureka line, 42miles long, carries seven-strand alumi-nium cable equivalent to No. 4 Eureka-Mercur cross line, 28 mileslong, equivalent to No. 5 copper, wasadded to complete the triangle thusformed and permit cutting out either ofthe three sides without interruptingservice. During the first year of operation thetransmission comprised a single 32-mileline to one receiving point at Mercur,where the arrangement was similar tothat at the power house, save that tworeducing transformers were connected ing-field alternators, direct connected at400 revolutions to double discharge twinturbines under 212 feet head. Thisplant is connected with the Provo sys-tem by duplicate lines over 100 mileslong, passing the cities of Ogden andSalt Lake.
