Grass cutting at the stone circle at Avebury demonstrating the need for land amangement -Avebury, Wiltshire, England, UK
Avebury, in Wiltshire, England is the home of one of the most important megalithic sites in Europe. The great stone circle encompasses part of the village and is enclosed by a ditch and chalk rampart. The 1930's saw the re-ecrection of many of the stones by the archaeologist Alexander Keiller. Trinagular concrete posts mark the spot where stones, now missing, would have been located. This is a popular tourist attraction set in beautiful rolling countryside.
