The early phase of the Holocaust was not with gas chambers but mobile execution squads known as Enisatzgruppen. Their task was to roam behind teh front lines shooting all the Jews they could. They killed an estimated two million people. This photo shows the men firing at their victims kneeling by a ditch into which their bodies will fall.
