Impressionistic photo of Polo players
Polo players at the Argentine Open in Argentina. The final takes place in Palermo, Buenos Aires every year in December (or January if rained off). It’s not unusual to have both teams field teams players who all have the maximum handicap of 10. That’s why the Argentine Open is considered the world championship - even though no foreign teams participate. Like football (soccer), rugby, field hockey and tennis, Argentines adopted polo from the British. They are among the world’s best exponents in these sports (in the case of field hockey it’s the women who excel).
