Zodiac in Ptolemy's Almagest (1515). The 'Almagest' is a famous compendium authored by the 2nd century AD Greek astronomer Ptolemy. It summarised the learning of the Ancient Greeks, and was the basis of much of the astronomy and science of medieval Europe until the time of Copernicus (1543). This page is from book 2 of an edition produced in Venice, Italy, in 1515. This second book was about daily motions in the heavens. This page is a table of co-ordinates relating to the twelve signs of the zodiac (given with their astrological signs). The text is in Latin. This edition uses Gherardo da Cremona's translation from Arabic.
