ULBS For Natural Effects For planting in woodlands, meadowsand along streams, these fall-planted bulbsare coming into favor more rapidly everyyear as their merit becomes better bulbs, especially daffodils whenplanted in clumps in a sheltered, sunnyspot, will produce a mass of color in theearly spring, when the rest of nature isasleep. When once planted, they remainfor years, the clumps increasing in sizeand vigor. Daffodils in long irregular lines alongstreams, or by the edge of the woodlandare extremely effective, but if severalvarieties are planted they should be keptseparate, so that each group will give itsfullest display, as all varieties do not flowerat exactly the same time. Nearly all bulbsfor naturalizing are quite inexpensive, andthe annual benefit derived from them fora small outlay is good reason for plantingin large quantities.
