Diffraction experiment. Numerical simulations of the interference pattern produced by double-slit diffraction of a harmonic wave front moving through the slits from upper right to lower left. In this series, which goes from left to right along each row and top to bottom, the wavelength is reduced by a factor of two between each image. This causes the wave pattern to approach that of single-slit diffraction. This simulation is shown as waves moving across a surface, but is based on the differential equations that describe dispersion-free electromagnetic waves. For related simulations, see C014/7198 to C014/7200.
