ARMY HORSE MANURE An arrangement was made last vear between thetood 1 reduction Department and the Army for thesupply of Army manure to farmers and allotmentholders in various parts of the countrv. A big dumpnear Aldershot has been distributed partly by bargesworking on the Basingstoke Canal. Under thisscheme about 15,000 tons of manure were supplied tothe farmers and allotment holders of Surrey andHants at 4s. 6d. per ton. It is stated that had thisarrangement not been made a number of agricul-turists, chiefly smallholders, would have been unableto have sufficient manure for their land.
