Edward Livingston ca. 1827 Anson Dickinson American The prominent statesman (1764-1836) sat for Dickinson in Washington on February 3, 1827, as is recorded in the artist's daybook. Former mayor of New York City (1801-3), Livingston was, at the time, a senator for the state of Louisiana. He would go on to serve as secretary of state (1831-33) and United States minister to France (1833-35) under Andrew Edward Livingston 10751
