Young, red-purple tinged, leaves of Meadowsweet / Filipendula ulmaria in roadside ditch. Once used as medicinal plant for aspirin-like content.
Early foliage and leaf buds of Meadowsweet often have this reddish-purple-claret colouring to the wrinkly young leaves. As the plant matures the leaves become flatter and lose most of the reddish colour. However, as the plant ages the plant stems usually take on a reddish flush.
