The larva when first hatched is of a uniform orangecolor, with a black head. When full grown it inches in length and is nearly cylindrical. Themost common color is green verging into blue, eachjoint with six transverse wrinkles. There are fourlongitudinal yellow lines each equidistant from theother, and each interrupted by a pale blue spot on thefirst and fourth wrinkles of each joint. There are traa;sof another substigmatal line.
