A shaft leading down to an underground bunker, a remnant from World War 2 in what is now woodland.

During World War 2, where the village of Perton in South Staffordshire now stands, there was instead an airfield. Pictured here is a remnant of that bygone time, a shaft leading downwards presumably to a bunk or storage area. The shaft is now in countryside surrounding the village, close to lanes and trails which are popular for walks. Someone has tried to mark the shaft by covering it with a log.
