Carlos Saenz de Tejada (1897 - 1958) - Viva la Republica A study of the revolutionary struggles during the Civil War (1936 - 39) by the famous Spanish painter. Multi-coloured drawing on cardboard, embossed with maker's name "Carl Schleicher & Sohn", water colours and white heightening. The hand-drawn picture shows citizens of Madrid in the street "Puerta del Sol" celebrating their victory. Also depicted: a woman with a "barretina", a traditional headgear, flags in red, yellow, and purple or with the inscription "Viva la Republica". Signed "C.
