The superintendent of this departmenthas visited this fall the Synods of Wiscon-sin, Baltimore and Pennsylvania, in theinterest of our work. Saturday, September 24, by previousappointment, Mr. William Davis, our mis-sionary for the Presbytery of Oklahoma,met me at Shawnee that we mightmake a trip along the line of the extensionof the St. Louis & San Francisco R. R.,now being built from Sepulpa, I. T., toOklahoma City. The journey for the day,as Mr. Davis had planned it, was to driveto Stroud, forty-five miles distant. Whenthe train arrived at Shawnee about , Mr. Davis was ready, and by we were on the road. The daypassed without special incident, exceptthat we were made to realize what a dryand thirsty land is.
