Located on the National Mall in Washington, DC, and completed in 1855, "the Castle" is the oldest of the Smithsonian Institutions buildings, and now houses Smithsonian administrative offices and a visitor information center. The building was place on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1966.
