Theseus's abduction of Antiope.


Theseus's abduction of Antiope from the west pediment of the Temple of Apollo Daphnephoros, 520 BC. The temple was destroyed in 490 BC during the Greco-Persian Wars. Antiope was the Queen of the Amazons and her abduction was depicted showing Theseus, below driving a chariot - now lost, whilst holding Antiope with his left arm. Eretria Archaeological Museum.
