The factory was founded in 1893 near the town of Morshansk, one verst from the station "Morshansk" of the North-Eastern Railway on the site of the well-known Kutais mill on the Tsne River, which is now navigable below the dam at the factory. Initially, the factory worked with coarse wool cloth, and only since 1891 the work of fine cloth began. Фабрика основана в 1893 году близ города Моршанска, в одной версте от станции «Моршанск» Северо-Восточной железной дороги на месте известной в свое время кутаисовской мельницы на реке Цне, которая сейчас же ниже запруды у фабрики делается судоходной. Первоначально фабрика работала сукна из грубой шерсти, и только с 1891 года началась работа и тонких сукон.
