Jesus Christ and virgin mary being worshipped. Woodblock print 1885 edition Geschichte der Deutschen Kunst

An absolutely beautiful and stunningly detailed woodcut of the triptych "altar of the Cologne city patrons " in Cologne Cathedral by Stephan Lochner (circa 1400 to 1452) of the Cologne school of late gothic painting. Please zoom in to see the amount of work that went into this. It depicts the virgin Mary and infant Jesus with the city paying them homage. Scanned and lovingly restored from an 1885 edition of Geschichte der Deutschen Kunst (German Art Illustrated) Volume 1 from the up-loaders personal archive.
