A 1935 pattern Japanese army officer katana, Officer's sword in Shin-gunto mounts. Handle wrapped with brown cloth tape over white ray skin. Gold finished metal ornament in the form of three cherry blossoms mounted on the ray skin under the tape on each side. Steel scabbard retains 90 % olive drab paint and exhibits minor age/dents. Clean blade with straight temper line, length approximately 66 cm. Tang signed and dated "Yoshiaki, January 1943". Complete with field officer sword knot. Overall length approx. 102cm. USA-lot.
