Billingsgate Fish Market in 19th Century
illustration from London Pictures in pen & pencil published in 1890. The market was moved to the Isle of Dogs from Billingsgate Wharf in 1982. In its original location in the the 19th century it was the biggest fish market in the world. The movement of fish then was limited to licensed porters only. A role dating back to Henry VIII, but this was ended in 2012.
