Exhaled nitric oxide test. Patient undergoing a fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) test. During airway inflammation, higher levels of nitric oxide (NO) are released from cells lining the bronchial airways. This test gives an indication of airway inflammation, and can help with the diagnosis and treatment of asthma.
