The dimensions of the openingsmust be within the limits already statedfor trimming prints. It will sometimesbe necessary to reduce the width of thetwo parts forijiing the stereoscopic nega-tive. This should be done at the stage of cutting the negative apart for the purposeof transposition. Whatever may be theshape of the mask adopted^ it is betterthat the openings should be rather underthan over 2| in. in width. If over thissize, the distance between correspondingpoints in the dissimilar pictures will betoo great for easy combination in thestereoscope, especially when the latter iswithout means of varying the refractingangle. Mounting Stereoscopic Prints. When the prints have been taken aftertransposition of the negatives, the binocu-lar pictures will, of course, be
