Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy. The Karst Plateau by Trieste. Mount Hermada (Grmada in Slovenian) is a low hill on the boundary between Italy and Slovenia. In the course of the WWI, it was an inexpugnable bulwark of the Austro-Hungarian Army, that defended Trieste from its top. Austro-Hungarian lookout. From there, one gets an exceptional view of the villages of Iamiano (Jamlje) and Doberdò del Lago (Doberdob), the Brestovizza Valley (Brestovica Dol, SLO), and the Karst of Comeno (Komenski Kras).
