Perhaps one reason why thegeneral adoption of concrete as a honie-buildiny; material has been somewhat belatedis its cnmi)aratively recent development from the artistic standpoint. Its advantages fromthe purely utilitarian aspect have been allalong conceded; it needed demonstrationthat it could be adapted to practically anyarchitectural lines, that it was susceptible ofvarious contrasts and blendings in coloreffects to complete the bill of requirements.
