The house stands on a low hill some fifteen rodswest of the Nezinscot, a deep, winding;, sluw-moving river,its banks well-clothed with bushes, hazel, alder, andozier, and small trees, wild cherry, white birch, andwater maple. In front and a few rods to the south runs a small brook,which broadens where it reaches the level of the river intoa shallow pool. This is fringed with a thick growth ofalders and rushes.
