Neill, of this city, received on Wednesday last the second of the team of ', them aUpoints. Irish reds, with which he proposes to dem- onstrate the adaptability of the red setter to California uses. The dog is Jerry, by Cham- pion Elcho, ont of Lina. Elcho is known to fanciers as an assured winner in almost any company. He has won firsts, specials, cham- pion prizes, brace prizes, stock-dog prizes, etc., over good dogs. Lina is by Champion Rufus, out of Erinell. Erinell is by Pipps, out of Ruby, both imported by General Ducat, of Evanstou, Ills., the dog from Captain French and the bitch from Earl Howth's ken- nel, near Dublin. The dog is, as most recent Irish reds are, rather too fine in coat and a little short in ear, but stands on good feet, and is well though finely boned. His muzzle is broadish, but he is a veritable thoroughbred, aud will be a hard one to beat when in bench form. He took second in Irish red dog pup class at the last Chicago Bench Show, in a fair class. Mr. Neill's earlier importation, Pat O'More, by Champion Roiy O'More, out of Norah O'More, has recovered his strength and spirits after the tedious trip from the kennel of W. , near Albany, N. Y. Rory O'More is by Champion Rufus, out of Friend. Through Rufus, Pat O'More strains to Linda, Shot, Old Squib and Fly, all great dogs; and on his dam's side, to Leigh's Flash, Kavan- augh's Ruby and Miss Lidwell's Yorkâas good breeding, probably, as can be had. Mr. Neill has in transitu a red bitch, and when she arrives will have the nucleus of the finest Irish red kennel this side of Albany. Both dogs came through well. They were carefully crated and well attended to on the way. Mr. Neill is a member of the Pacific Coast Field Trials Club, and expected to receive his dogs in time to prepare them for the Derby of this year, but of course cannot do so in the few days interveni
