Detroit, Michigan - Students from Mater Dei High School prepare to compete in the Shell Eco-Marathon.


Detroit, Michigan - Students from Mater Dei High School in Evansville, Indiana prepare to compete in ultra high mileage cars they have designed for the Shell Eco-Marathon. The contest challenges students to build fuel-efficient vehicles; the winning entry in the gasoline prototype class posted 3,421 miles per gallon. Before the team could compete, the car's brakes were tested on an inclined ramp. Mater Dei placed third in the competition.
