By-pass thoroughfaresmay greatly relieve the downtown area and the radial thoroughfares, ifproperly located. Houston is at present very inadequately supplied withthis type of circulation. Practically our only example is the Old SpanishTrail-Wayside connection, which is most serviceable and worthwhile. Anexample of a greatly needed unit of this type would be the Kiam-Sixth-White Oak-Quitman-Liberty Road connection. This route, if properly devel-oped, would provide a much needed connection east and west on the northside of Buffalo Bayou and would tend to relieve congestion on Washingtonand Franklin Avenues.
