Italian book on the comet of 1664-5. Title page of 'Il Teloscopio D'Urania' (1665), published by Andrea Colicchia in Milan, Italy. The Italian text at top refers to a comet that appeared in December 1664. This comet, shown here in the constellation of Hydra, appeared in November 1664. It was one of the brightest comets of the time, seen all across Europe and reported in many publications. It was seen again in January 1665, and was last seen in March 1665. A key in Italian is given at bottom. Modern astronomers have designated the 1664-5 comet as C/1664 W1.
