A pair of gold-inlaid flintlock traveler's pistols, France(?), circa 1740. Browned, octagonal barrels, merging to round after chiselled balusters and decorated with beaded bands. Smooth bores in 12 mm calibre. Trophy bundles on the breeches and tangs. Gold lines on the front of the muzzle. Gold-bushed vents. The flintlocks are decorated en suite with trophies, fasces, and bows with quivers. The pan cover shows leafy vines. Walnut stocks (shrinkage cracks due to age) with fine silver wire inlay.
