Belle Tout lighthouse at Beachy Head, near Eastbourne, Sussex, was built in 1834. Erosion of the chalk cliffs meant that in 1999 it had to be moved. The building, now decommissioned as a lighthouse and converted to being a private home, was moved 17 metres (56 ft) away from the cliff face. This was taken at the start of the work.
