NEW CROSS=BRED MOONFLOWER This is the only White Moonflower that blooms freely in the North, from seed sown in the open ground. The Tree Morning Glory (Ipomcea fistulosa) from Mexico made handsome plants from seed sown in the open ground at Fordhook, but did not flower the past season. Evi- dently it should be started early in the house. Mr. Falconer, editor of Gardening, says: " It is a shrub- like perennial four to seven feet high, according to cul- tural conditions, and terminating the shoots are clusters or cymose panicles of twenty-five or more pale rose- colored flowers with a dark center, and three to four inches across. In the North the plants may be cut down in fall and the roots brought indoors and wintered in boxes of earth.
