They are worshippedby the Hottentots as tutelary divinities. Thehead is horizontal, triangular in front, withlong filiform antennas; the prothorax is verylong, and the broad wings are thin, net-veined,with long parallel veins, more strongly resem-bling the Neuroptera in this respect than anyother family. The abdomen is long, linearoval. kiThe subgenital plate is formed by theeighth sternite, the oviduct opening betweenthe seventh and eighth segments. The ninthsegment is complete. The elements of thisring are but little developed, scarcely surpass-ing the subgenital plate ; the two episternitesare distinct, and between them is the smallninth sternite.
