Temperature measurement. Mother taking her unwell son's temperature with a mercury thermometer. Normal body temperature is around degrees Celsius. A temperature significantly higher than this can indicate an infection, such as influenza ('flu). The forehead of a feverish patient will often feel noticeably hotter than usual. Bed rest is a good treatment for minor infections such as flu or a cold.
