The Israeli army claimed that one of the Palestinians on the motorcycle threw a suspicious object at the soldiers situated near the al-Jalama checkpoint, although local eyewitnesses deny the Israeli allegations. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) confirmed that Towalba was shot in the head and in his feet with several live rounds while there was no reported injury to Israeli soldiers
