This beautiful portrait shows a puffin posing amongst lush grass and pink flowers. THE SHETLAND ISLANDS, UK. THESE PINT-sized puffins captured on flower-strewn clifftops are the most adorable British birds you are likely to see. Photographed in the Shetland Islands, these cute creatures were certainly not shy and retiring and were captured perched on the boot of the photographer. Another remarkable image depicts a puffin in flight after taking a leap from a cliffside with a picturesque British landscape behind it. A puffin pictured on a cliffside appears to be posing for a portrait, surrounded by lush grass and pink flowers in bloom. Lynn Fraser (56) from Tore, Ross-shire captures these stunning images when she was travelling around the Shetland Islands. ?At Dunnet Head and Sumburgh, I walked along the cliff top looking out for any that were perched on ledges on the cliff face,? she said. ?At Hermaness, I was able to sit on the bank at the top of the cliff and watch the puffins flying in and out, some disappearing into their burrows. ?Puffins are remarkably tolerant of human presence and you can get very close. ?Despite this, I always take care to approach slowly and quietly, often 'commando crawling' to get into position so as not to cause any stress to the birds. ?At Hermaness, I was sitting taking images when I became aware of a tapping on my boot. ?On looking round, I was amused to see a puffin sitting on foot, pecking my boot, with a group of others looking on. ?Luckily, I had a fairly wide lens on may camera at this point so was able to capture the Puffins are around 12 inches in height and wingspans of around 25 inches. These small birds can live in colonies of several thousands of fellow puffins but spend a large portion of their lives alone at sea. ?The puffins can be sitting alone, in pairs or in small groups,? she said. ?There can be limited space on the cliff faces. ?At Hermaness there was a large number of puff
