Hewas born at Thompsonville, January 10, 1859,and was educated in the College of the City ofNew York, and at the Yale Scientific School. HENRY ABBE Of Enfield, was born there in 1822, and waseducated at Wilbraham Academy. For eighteenyears he was a successful school teacher. At theclose of that period he engaged in farming, whichhe still carries on, together with packing has been Superintendent of Schools, ActingSchool Visitor, Assessor, and member of theBoard of Relief. Mr. Abbe is a Republican inpolitics, and has always acted with that party. 97. PATRICK G ARYAN Of East Hartford, was a member of the House in1884, serving on the Finance Committee. Hetook a prominent part in railroad legislation, andwas especially instrumental in adjusting, throughlegislative enactment, the questions at issue be-tween the public and the Hartford Bridge Com-pany. Mr. Garvan is a careful and conservativelegislator, and was a member of decided influencewith his associates during the session last was born in Ireland, March 8, 1835, andattended the national and private schools thereuntil he was fifteen years of age, when he cameto America. He attended school, after arrivinghere, at East Windsor Hill, and at sixteen yearsof age was apprenticed to the carpenter trade inEast Hartford. At twenty-one he engaged inbusiness for himself, and
