Angel of the North sculpture

Side view of the Angel of the North sculpture. This sculpture of an angel is situated on reclaimed land in Gateshead, England, and is the largest sculpture in Great Britain. It was designed by sculptor Antony Gormley to welcome visitors arriving to the area by road and rail. It was constructed in 1995 from copper-containing weather-resistant steel, the surface of which oxidises to form an orange colour. It is 20 metres high, with a wingspan of 54 metres.
