Langney Priory, some of which date back to before the Norman Conquest in 1066, lies surrounded by modern housing in the East Sussex town of Eastbourne. It is not strictly a priory but a grange. This grange was a farm belonging to the Priory at Lewes, the present County Town of East Sussex. It is the oldest building in Eastbourne. It is currently in a very bad state of repair but has some amazing architectural features within its walls. It is a mixture of architectural periods, reflecting its history and changes in ownership. It is a Grade II listed building. Langney is recorded in the Doomsday Book as Langelie - Saxon for Long Island. Currently there are plans to transform the building and its grounds into a training hotel/BandB offering trans national work placements. It is linked to the Eco Chateau Project in France.
