Major General Earl E. Anderson receives congratulations from LtGen Robert E. Cushman, Jr. after being awarded the Distinguished Service Medal. This ceremony took place in 1968 in Vietnam, during the Vietnam War. General Anderson was recognized for his outstanding service as the chief of staff of III Marine Amphibious Force. He departed Vietnam on January 1st to take up a new assignment at Headquarters Marine Corps in Washington, The photograph was captured by SSgt J. A. Raid.
