That is, they will not colonize in one box. A pair of bluebirds willtake quarters in a house and whip off all comers, even of their own kind. Except the Tree-Swallow, it is the same with the wren and all other species for which the single room orindividual nesting-boxes are made. If you put these up at random in suitable places onyour premises, every box may eventually be taken, which is never the case with a bluebirdor wren house having more than one room.
