Dallas,USA,31st August 2017: Gasoline prices and supply surprised everyone in North Texas today. Many stations ran out of gasoline, while others had long lines with customers that had short fuses. Some think that it will go away as quick as it came, while others are already putting the finger on a bigger problem down the road. Credit: dallaspaparazzo/Alamy Live News

White it is fact that the largest refinery for gasoline on the Texas coast and it did go off line during Hurricane Harvey, a couple of things don't stack up like poker chips. The change over from summer to winter fuel refining happens about this time every year. The Korean situation has left some thinking in that direction, but mostly, the prices have been trying to come back to where they were and even higher in the oil cartels. Then, it's just pure economics that the Labor Day holiday is upon us and that fit into the equation. Beyond that, at this point is is just pure speculation. As in any commodity, things will work out eventually. Meanwhile, the panic factor kicked in and everyone was filling up their cars during the evening of the 30th and during the day today as so much gasoline was going into tanks more than created a demand on supplies that just were not there to be replaced over night. Come Sunday and Monday, every one's cars and boats will be full and no one will be lining up to get gas like today. The prices were up and down the scale with the lowest at $ and the highest at $ gallon US.
