Army Staff Sgt. Chris Apis, with the 92nd Civil Support Team, Nevada Army National Guard, to take radiation readings at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 2, 2008. The unit was called to assist Las Vegas Metro Police with a suspicious substance in a hotel in west Las Vegas. The substance was identified as ricin, a poisonous protein toxin that can be fatal if inhaled or injected. The team is one of 52 certified units nationwide to support local and state authorities at domestic incident sites by identifying hazardous agents and substances. Sgt. Cheri Cramutolo
