The Hurons were far-famed as orators, andthe early settlers often listened for hours toChief O-ge-ma-ke-ga-to and other great men ofthe tribes wandering about these parts recite thegreat deeds of their great warriors. They wouldtell of hunting with Tecumseh, and the old menof the tribe would grow eloquent in speakingof Pontiac, whom they had seen in all hissplendor as a leader and orator. Their tradi-tions tell us of his visit to the wigwams on theSaginaw, where he met in council the chiefs.
