Dusk at the fairground rides with the toboggan ride illuminated at Jenkinson’s Boardwalk, Point Pleasant, a borough in Ocean County, New Jersey, USA in 1974. The ride seems to be a combination of helter-skelter and big dipper with a rocket-like start of the descent. other illuminated signs advertise go-kart rides and amusements. In 1926 Charles Jenkinson acquired property in Point Pleasant Beach. In 1928 Jenkinson’s Pavilion was built. It was a large open-air building on the beach featuring a candy shop, soda fountain and refreshment stand. The business grew rapidly, with a dance hall opening in 1929 and a miniature golf course soon after. Generations of the family continued its growth of the pavilion and boardwalk, but by the late 1970s the Jenkinson’s operation was struggling and new investment was needed. Pasquale ‘Pat’ Storino, purchased the Jenkinson’s holdings and launched a renovation of the Pavilion, creating an arcade, concessions stands, games, a restaurant. A dinner theater was added to the Pavilion and a waterslide complex replaced the aging swimming pool and miniature golf course. In 1980 he acquired neighbouring attractions to expand the attraction.
