Coronal View MRI of Normal Brain

Color enhanced coronal (frontal) view of what a normal brain looks like. This image was created by Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technique. MRI basically images the patient's protons (hydrogen atoms). This technique involves placing a patient in a strong magnetic field followed by sending multiple radio frequency (RF) pulses to stimulate the patient's protons. A signal arises from the patient's protons as they relax and return to their normal state. This signal is what creates the ultimate MRI image.
