Our Description of GOLDEN SURPRISE Consists of Plain, Unvarnished Statements and Simple Facts. The illustration is a reproduction from a photograph, and, although somewhat reduced in size, 'will give a very accurate idea of the ears.' The cob is so small that many of them may be actually encased in an ordinary finger ring. The corn, as a whole, is indicative of its name, and is, indeed, a genuine surprise to all who behold it. Beautiful in its rich golden color and even size from butt to tip of Profitable in its depth of grain and small per cent of waste cob. Con- venient in its short fodder growth and easy break of ear from stalk. Certain in its early maturity, and, all points considered, is the best 90-day corn up to date. Ten years of close observation, careful breeding and selection brought about the desired result. We have tested this corn for several years in various localities in comparison with well-known sorts, and find it fully equal in average bulk to any on the mar- ket, but in depth of grain and weight of shelled corn per bushel it has no com- petitor. Its habit of growth is short, strong stalk, with broad, closely set leaves, which makes it a superior fodder corn. A new, distinct, Yellow Dent variety of unquestionable merit.
