17th Century Calculating Machine


Brass calculating machine made by Tito Livio Burattini in the mid-17th century, measuring 20 centimeters in length. Donated to Grand Duke Ferdinando II, this mechanical calculator combines the solutions adopted in Blaise Pascal's calculating machine and in the so called "Napier's rods." On display in the Museum of Science History, Florence, Italy.
