Advertisements such as this now faded one painted on the side of a boucherie charcuterie shop were once a common sight thoughout France. Often, like this one for Dubonnet, they were for drinks, alcoholic or otherwise. (Dubonnet is an aperitif, a blend of fortified wine, herbs and spices. It also contains some quinine. It is said to be a favourite drink of Queen Elizabeth II and in 2021 was awarded a Royal Warrant by the Queen. It is currently produced in France by Pernod Ricard, the famous producers of the French favourite pastis. The ad shows the products catch phrase of Dubo, Dubon, Dubonnet. (roughly translated as its's nice, it's good it's Dubonnet). It is often drunk as a mixer with lemonade or bitter lemon.
