Bohr made major contributions to the understanding of atomic structure and quantum mechanics and won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922. He later helped the Americans with the Manhattan Project to develop the atomic bomb and after WW2 spent his career advocating peaceful uses of atomic energy.
